Sponsors & Partners

Explore Giving Back Generation's Partnership and Sponsorship Policy. Learn how we collaborate with ethical partners and sponsors to advance our mission and create social impact.

1. Introduction

Giving Back Generation (“GBG”, “we”, “our”, or “us”) recognises the value of partnerships and sponsorships that support our charitable mission to empower communities and deliver positive social change. This policy ensures that all such relationships are managed with transparency, ethical integrity, and full compliance with charity law, safeguarding, and Charity Commission guidance.

2. Objectives of the Policy

This policy aims to:

  • Define clear standards and frameworks for engaging with sponsors and partners.
  • Ensure every partnership or sponsorship upholds GBG’s mission, values, and commitment to public benefit.
  • Protect all stakeholders—especially young people and vulnerable beneficiaries—in line with the Charity Commission’s safeguarding and compliance expectations.
  • Provide robust governance and accountability in all formal collaborations.

3. Principles of Partnership and Sponsorship

All GBG relationships with sponsors or partners must adhere to the following principles:

  • Alignment with Values: Every sponsor and partner must support GBG’s aims and values, including our commitments to inclusivity, transparency, safeguarding, and social impact.
  • Mutual Benefit: All collaborations must provide clear, tangible benefit to both parties and contribute to GBG’s charitable objectives.
  • Ethical Standards: We do not engage with organisations whose activities conflict with our values (e.g., those involved in discrimination, exploitation, or environmental harm).
  • Transparency: All significant agreements will be documented in writing and made available to stakeholders as appropriate.
  • Control and Oversight: Trustees retain final discretion and oversight over all sponsorship and partnership arrangements, as required by Charity Commission governance standards.

4. Types of Sponsorships and Partnerships

GBG may enter into the following types of collaborations:

  • Corporate Sponsorships: Financial or in-kind contributions from businesses in support of our charitable programmes, events, or operations.
  • Programme Partnerships: Joint work with charities, voluntary groups, or agencies to deliver specific initiatives.
  • Event Sponsorships: Support for GBG events (e.g., workshops, campaigns, community activities).
  • Product Partnerships: Co-development or promotion of products that support our mission and generate charitable benefit.

5. Due Diligence and Agreement Requirements

  • All prospective partners and sponsors are subject to due diligence, including assessment of reputation, alignment with GBG values, compliance history, and safeguarding record.
  • Trustees and management will refer to the Charity Commission Compliance Toolkit, especially Sections 7 (“Working with Partners and Protecting the Charity”) and 8 (“Know Your Partner”).
  • All significant sponsorships and partnerships must be governed by a written agreement clearly stating:
    • Purpose and scope of the collaboration
    • Roles, responsibilities, and decision-making processes
    • Safeguarding duties and expectations
    • Standards for quality and delivery
    • Data protection and confidentiality
    • Financial arrangements and permitted use of resources
    • Termination conditions, including provisions for withdrawal if the relationship no longer aligns with GBG’s mission or values
  • All agreements must ensure that appropriate discretion, control, and oversight is retained by GBG trustees at all times.

6. Safeguarding and Public Protection

  • Every partnership and sponsorship must prioritise the safety and wellbeing of all GBG stakeholders—especially children, young people, and vulnerable adults—in line with Charity Commission safeguarding guidance and the 10 safeguarding actions for trustees.
  • Trustees will ensure that all partners and sponsors are informed of, and agree to uphold, GBG’s safeguarding policies and practices.
10 safeguarding actions for trustees.

7. Conflict of Interest

  • All potential collaborations are reviewed by GBG’s trustees and management.
  • Any trustee, staff member, or volunteer with a personal connection to a potential partner or sponsor must declare this and recuse themselves from related decisions.

8. Recognition and Use of Branding

  • GBG will acknowledge partners and sponsors in line with written agreements (e.g., logos on website, event materials, public recognition in reports).
  • Partners and sponsors may use GBG branding in their own communications only with prior written consent, and always in accordance with our brand guidelines.

9. Monitoring and Review

  • All active partnerships and sponsorships will be periodically monitored to ensure continued alignment with GBG’s mission, legal duties, and safeguarding standards.
  • This policy will be reviewed at least annually or in response to new Charity Commission guidance or significant incidents.
